Voted “favourite village of the French” in 2015, and not for nothing…, it’s worth the diversions! Capital of the Côte de Granit rose Ploumanac’h offers you a sublime and lunar landscape. Nestled in this surreal setting, Ploumanac’h near the campsite is a seaside resort famous for its heaps of stones sculpted by the sea and the wind, of a very particular pink colour: an almost unreal panorama. This unique geological site is a natural site of incredible beauty.
Ploumanac’h “la mare du moine” in Breton, 300 million years old, extends over more than 25 hectares, it has become the emblematic place of the Côtes d’Armor, its gigantic pink granite rocks are known worldwide. People come from far and wide to admire this chaos of rocks with artistic shapes: the upside down bottle, the mushroom, Napoleon’s hat,… some of them can even reach 20 metres high.
To take full advantage of this exceptional view, put on your trainers and walk the Customs Officers’ Trail (GR 34), opened in 1907 and used in the past by customs officers to fight smuggling. Ideal for discovering the Coast and its impressive rock sculptures, among these rocky chaos, hidden under the vegetation, you will see strange little troglodyte dwellings very close to the camping in Perros Guirrec.
For swimming, you have the choice between 2 beaches: La Bastille, a small cove, located between the beach of Saint-Guirec and the port of Ploumanac’h, with an unobstructed view of the Renote peninsula and the Sept-Iles archipelago, and the beach of Saint-Guirec (l’Anse de Saint-Guirec), and its oratory of the same name.
